Download GenuineFile Windows Client
Click here to download GenuineFile free plugin for Windows. Linux version coming soon.
GenuineFile installs as a Windows shell extension. If you want to verify integrity of a file that you downloaded from Internet, just right-click on the file in Windows Explorer, and select "File Info..."

The plugin will compute the hash of the file and send it to GenuineFile.com (note that actual file contents are never sent to GenuineFile, so it is OK to query even confidential files). GenuineFile.com will find the hash in its database and return information about this file to you:

Note that "Notarize..." button is grayed out because this file is already notarized and its hash (fingerprint) stored in GenuineFile.com database.
If you want to notarize new files by putting their fingerprints into GenuineFile.com database, you need to register at GenuineFile.com first. After you create an account at GenuineFile.com, right-click the file you want to notarize and click "File Info...".

Note that the "Notarize..." button is active — if it were disabled, the file is already notarized and cannot be notarized again. Click the "Notarize..." button and the below screen will appear:

On this screen you need to describe the file you want to notarize and enter your GenuineFile account details. After you click "OK", a fingerprint of the selected file will be calculated and sent to GenuineFile.com. If everything goes well, the fingerprint will be added to GenuineFile.com database.

When you later query this file, you'll see the information you entered about this file, and your name attached to it.
