Using GenuineFile for copyright protection
By notarizing a file you create evidence that:
- this file existed on the date and time you notarized it
- this file was possessed by you on the date and time you notarized it
Thus if you want to protect a piece of your intellectual property, you only need to notarize the work by storing its fingerprint in GenuineFile database, it takes just a few seconds. Learn more how to notarize files.

We recommend that you seriously consider using GenuineFile for quick and easy protectiion of your intellectual property if you are:
- writer
- graphic designer
- musician
- scientist
and at least some of your work is created, stored, or distributed in electronic form.
It is important to remember that by notarizing your work you do not publish it or create a reference copy of your work. Our notarization process only creates and stores a unique fingerprint of your work (optionally this fingerprint can be also digitally signed), it is impossible to reproduce your work from this fingerprint — read how GenuineFile works for more details. This means that:
- you don't trust your work to us, even GenuineFile doesn't know anything about your discovery before you publish it
- if you accidentally lose your files, don't write to us asking to email copies, we don't have them and never had!
