Using GenuineFile for virus protection
Viruses often modify important system files. You can make viruses more easily detectable by notarizing these files and querying information about them from GenuineFile database. If a file was modified, GenuineFile will return no information about the file so you'll know that something is wrong with the file, either a virus infected it, or somebody else gained access and replaced the file.
However, in most cases, you won't need to notarize each file on your harddisk yourself, usually the software vendor will do it for you.
Note that GenuineFile is not a replacement for antivirus software, not every virus will try to modify system files, and GenuineFile is best used in parallel with antivirus programs.
